When it comes to water sports Key West is King of the Hill. Other than Hawaii there is no where else in the United States that has average temperatures as warm as Key West. There are many reefs and sunken wrecks surrounding Key West which make Key West scuba diving one of the islands huge attractions. There are numerous Key West dive shops that will rent you equipment and take you where you want to go. If you don't have the proper diving certification don't despair, there is always Key West snorkeling. There are many Key West charter boats that will take you out on the water and allow you to snorkel the reefs or remote beaches.

If you like fishing then Key West is where you want to be. There are Key West fishing
charters just about everywhere you look on the island. Key West is world famous for certain

Something to consider when vacationing in Key West is your transportation. Many tourists will rent bikes to get around this small island. Key West bike rentals in my opinion are the best way to go during the busy months since parking can be a super headache. Many of the Key West bike rental companies will also have small electric cars available for rent that are fun and easy to get around in. A great area to explore with your Key West bike or electric car rental is Old Town Key West. Old Town is an area in Key West that consists of historic and old houses that have been restored to their original luster. Old Town Key West is also known for it's narrow streets that are lined with lush botanical landscaping. It's a must see.

An everyday attraction that is extremely popular on the island is the Key West sunset celebration held at Key West's Mallory Square. Each day thousands of people converge on the Mallory Square dock to watch the fiery Key West sunset. While there you will be entertained by street entertainers and you will be able to sample different culinary delights prepared by the many food vendors. There are also arts & craft exhibits and other merchants that are part of this carnival atmosphere.

You will find many fine seafood restaurants in Key West. Many of the Key West fishing charters will sell their fresh catch each day to the areas local restaurants. One of the best Key West seafood restaurants in my opinion is the Conch Republic Seafood restaurant. They have an open air building and located right on the wharf. The fish are still practically wiggling on the plate when they are served. You should make sure to get there at least once during your vacation.

Another very popular Key West attraction is the Key West echo tours. With the tours you will kayak in the Key West backwaters and explore white sand beaches and desolate mangrove areas. The wildlife and marine life can be incredible on these forrays into wild. Closely related to the Key West echo tours are the Key West dolphin encounters. On a Key West dolphin encounter you will observe Key West dolphins in their natural environment. Since many of the dolphins have become accustomed to people they seen to look forward to interacting with their curious human spectators.

Key West is also known for it's historic bars and also world famous Duval Street. Most of the night life in Key West can be found on Duval Street. If you've been to New Orlean's Bourbon Street then you'll have some idea as to what Duval Steet can be compared to. A great way to experience most of the best bars is to sign up for one of the famous Key West pub crawls. A tour guide will take you to the most famous Key West bars and entertain you in the process. You will usually receive a free drink in each bar along with food specials that are available all for a nominal fee.
